The Upsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi has upheld the ideals of professionalism and prestige since 1920, when our chapter was founded.  We will continue this legacy by strongly supporting our national mission statement, seen above.  Alpha Kappa Psi is known as the most prominent organization in the College of Business and continues to uphold that prestige from year to year.

James Cash Penney, the founder of J.C. Penney and an alumnus of this Upsilon chapter once stated, "No man can climb the ladder of success without first placing his foot on the bottom rung."

There is a bit of truth in that statement that everyone must realize in order to see the bigger picture in life. Success seldomly falls into one’s lap. However, Alpha Kappa Psi allows each of us to build a strong work ethic, which is the only way to reach what Mr. Penney refers to as the “Top Rung”. The members of this chapter are the elite students within the College of Business. Together, these individuals are recognized as the most outstanding business organization in the college. Having won Business Week 7 consecutive years in a row and Homecoming for the past 6 years, Alpha Kappa Psi will continue this tradition because of the hard work and dedication of our chapter members.

We feel the two most important and beneficial aspects of this fraternity are professionalism and brotherhood. This is a professional business fraternity, but we like to have fun as well. A popular motto within our chapter is “Work Hard, Play Hard.” For example, you would be surprised at how gratifying it is to help out the Columbia community through a service event, or help the athletic department while fundraising at a sporting event, or even making an alumnus feel welcome back to Mizzou’s campus by attending his/her guest lecture. All of these situations build character and personality, which is another vital part in becoming a great business leader.

The Upsilon chapter is the largest Alpha Kappa Psi chapter in the world, with over 180 members.  What an honor to have such a remarkable opportunity here at our University. The members of our fraternity are what makes this organization so prominent and prestigous, utilize them. Since brotherhood is the backbone of Alpha Kappa Psi, join committees, run for a pledge officer position, help plan social events, just have fun and meet people. We strongly believe that by getting involved, you will thoroughly enjoy your time in Alpha Kappa Psi.
